Arnold26-11-2018 | 16:03:31 | No Comments

This afternoon we had 3 special visitors to Reception . Natasha came with her training dog, Rex, and our school dog, Arnold. Natasha is a dog trainer. She told us how to stroke dogs. We must stroke with a flat hand from head to tail. We don’t pat dogs as this could hurt them. We bend down to talk to dogs and always approach from the front.

We practised on Rex the toy dog and then got to stroke Arnold.

Arnold was really well behaved and enjoyed his time with Reception.

Natasha is going to come back to talk to us about how we tell if a dog is happy or sad.

Times Tables Rock Stars Week 2 Update09-11-2018 | 08:36:10 | No Comments

Since we launched Times Tables Rock Stars last week, there have been nearly 200,000 correct answers across Year 2 to Year 6! What an incredible achievement!

After our assembly with Mr Ball, lots of children have been logging on and challenging their other class in ‘Battle of the Bands’. This competition records every correct answer and provides a chart to see who wins over the space of a week.

Week 1 (w/b 29th October) – 25,523 correct answers

Week 2 (w/b 5th November) – 160,569 correct answers

This week’s most improved class goes to 2K, who have been rocking hard in school and at home!

Also, keep an eye on your Rock Star status. The quicker you become, the more chance you have of becoming a Rock Hero! Have a look at the table below to see where you are on the status.

We currently have 3 Rock Heroes and 4 Rock Legends across school, who will receive certificates for their achievements.

Keep rocking at home and see if you can beat the other class in your year group next week!

Poppies08-11-2018 | 15:57:13 | No Comments

Today we talked about Remembrance Day. We watched a PowerPoint on why we have Remembrance Day. This year is 100 years since the end of World War 1. We painted poppies and went to see the memorial at the front of school.

Tomorrow we will have our act of remembrance in school.

Nursery meet Arnold!12-10-2018 | 08:31:50 | No Comments

This week the nursery children officially met Arnold our school dog. Natasha (a dog trainer) came in to speak to us all about how to stroke Arnold. We practised on her toy dog called Rex. Arnold then came in to nursery and we took it in turns to to stroke Arnold gently.

Arnold then came to join us on our welly walk. At first Arnold didn’t want to walk but with lots of encouragement (and treats) walked through the nature trail with us. We took it in turns to hold the lead and walked carefully next to Arnold.

We are looking forward to Arnold joining us on our next welly walk!
