World Maths Day – Years 5/618-10-2017 | 10:16:06 | No Comments

On Friday 13th October 2017, we celebrated World Maths Day here at Bispham Endowed.

In the upper juniors, each teacher changed their classrooms into a themed room.
We had a travel shop, a bakery, a maths/medicine lab and an art gallery.

Here are some pictures from the travel shop group, who had to carry out a holiday search, using given criteria; such as who was travelling, for how long and the cheapest time to travel.

The children then displayed their findings on a travel shop window sign.

Here are some children in holiday searching action…..

We have been very busy making rice krispie cakes. We have measured, stirred and been very patient waiting for the syrup and butter to set.

Fire safety talk10-10-2017 | 07:30:34 | No Comments

On Monday afternoon, we welcomed the Pete from the Fire Service into Year 2. He talked to us about fire safety, the importance of smoke alarms and planning a fire escape plan for getting out of the house in the case of a fire.

We enjoyed the afternoon, take a look at what we did and how much we enjoyed ourselves:

Bispham Coding Stars!27-09-2017 | 07:24:44 | 1 Comment

This morning, we received a certificate from Discovery Coding to say that we are 2nd in Blackpool in a league table for creating apps using the service.

We use this programme to teach Coding in our Computing curriculum and the kids really enjoy using it.

If we keep making and sharing our apps, we could win a gold award and win a Coding prize !

Keep making and sharing your apps that you are creating at home and school.

Harvest20-09-2017 | 19:01:28 | No Comments

Thanks to all members of our school family who have donated to the harvest festival this year. We will be supporting Christian Aid and Tree Aid, and their work in Africa training farmers and communities to grow their own crops.

Royal Ballet in Year 319-09-2017 | 06:40:50 | 6 Comments

Mr Bell and Mr Hague will be with us each Monday morning for the next 6 weeks teaching us skills direct from the Royal Ballet School in London. This partnership has been in effect for over 10 years and we are part of only 30 schools around the whole country who get to experience this programme.

We are incorporating our Science topic into our ballet sessions looking at the skeleton and how the body moves.

On Thursday 5th October, we will be taking the children to the Globe Theatre to watch students from the Royal Ballet School perform a demonstration of their skills.

On our 6th session, we will be inviting all parents and carers to come into school and see the final product of our work.

Roald Dahl Day in Year 313-09-2017 | 13:27:28 | No Comments

This afternoon, Year 3 watched the interactive Puffin Virtually Live broadcast, which celebrates Roald Dahl Day. This has been enjoyed live with thousands of school children up and down the country.

We found out which character we were most like, learnt a little bit about his new book Billy and the Minpins, and Quentin Blake showed us some of his drawings from the book. We even got to draw a hornswoggler live along with Quentin Blake.

One of the strangest facts was that Roald Dahl had a hip operation and the surgeon gave him the hip bone to keep! He then kept the hip bone in his writing hut at home! Amazing.

If you want to find out anymore or watch some of the broadcast back, click this link: http://puffinvirtuallylive.co.uk
